New Winchester Rifles Availability

I have been trying to order a new Winchester 1886 in 45-90. My LGS says they can't order one, even though Winchester's website says they are available. Went to a bigger gun store in a bigger nearby town and they basically told me the same thing - they can order one, but they doubt they will ever get it.

Are new Winchester 1886s in 45-90 actually being produced? How can I get my hands on one?

I counted no less than 10 on GB but only one in 45-90 caliber, and it was a SR carbine. They are out there, but you will probably have to have it shipped to your FFL agent.

I checked on gun.deals, over 40 distributors, all out of stock. You might see if Winchester’s website or customer service can direct you to a distributor who has one and have them send it to your FFL. I find most LGS’s to be uncooperative unless you’re buying something they already have in stock. One near me refused to take any gunbroker guns or customer arranged shipments and they are currently having a clearance sale and going out of business.

Any idea if that was their policy before they decided to go out of business??

Luckily my LGS is really good to work with. They are just a farm store with a little gun counter. No problem ordering anything and they don't even charge for FFL transfers from Gun Broker.

They have been trying for a month but none of their suppliers have any 45-90s and they aren't set up to go direct to Winchester.

It was their policy for at least the last five years. I usually just bought cases, cleaning supplies or gun accessories from them. They did keep a good stock of currently popular guns, lots of black polymer. No old used guns, which is what I look for, or reproduction old guns.

Good. I’m glad they’re trying. My go to LGS is also a little place in the country. They do charge me a little for transfers but are always willing to take whatever I have sent there. They keep very little in stock, so I think a lot of their business is internet transfers.

You have to surf a lot and see what is in stock where what day on the new ones. Took me like 6 months but found a win 73 case finish short action gun for more than I liked to pay but hello they do not give them away. They come in stock and sell out in half a day it seems.
