hello, im new. i still have to go through the waiting period but i own a m12 winchester. i have never used a pump so im wondering if some folks here can help me out with the operations manual [not on winchester site] or just such general informational things like how to properly load/unload, clear a jam, field/detail stripping, what parts to clean & oil, what happens upon "short shucking" and what to do if it happens?, etc. thanks.

hi harley, so far i have not recieved it, im afraid msn hotmail may have refused the message. i have updated my profile with another email address that may work if you resend it, thanks for helping me out.

The size of all the pages is 500kb so it may take awhile. If you don't receive them, let me know and I will send it in pieces.

I don't mean to hyjack your thread but mine questions are so close to yours I figured jump on board.

I'm in the same boat as sled-dog, I just bought a model 12 and am waiting for it to arrive. Could you please send me the same information? Would this gun be a good skeet/trap gun? Here are some pictures of it.

Thanks!

Opps I can't post the last one... I don't know th SN of the gun yet can you tell me anything about it from the pictures? I also plan to get an extra polychoke barrel for skeet and stock with more pad. This gun isn't one to restore is it? I'd rather shoot it as it is for now.

welcome to the model 12 club
yours looks like mine but yours seems older since its a plum color and has an older style forend, the m12's were made from 1912 up to 1964. before you restore yours make sure its not one of the rare ones.

mine has the new style forend and from my guess appears to be made in the 1950s. it has a 30" full choke barrel, i will refinish it and restore/replace the wood so it will be good as new. heres what it looks like:

I just bought the Model 12 book by George Madis and am also currently wait for it to arrive in the mail. (In Hawaii you have to order just about everything gun related) :( From what I've heard this is THE M12 book. http://www.georgemadis.com/index.html
I would like to restore this one and use it as a shooter. After I get the book and make sure it's not rare or something. The receiver has been drilled at some point for a scope and this may make it not worth much as a collectors item?

both of ours probably arent very valuable as collectibles, so enjoy it as you see fit thats what i will be doing. i finally took delivery today and looked up my serial# at http://armscollectors.com/sn/windates.htm its a 1953.

the insides are caked in filth, but the bore is mirror bright, looks like that was what the last owner only ever cleaned :) hardly any blueing left and dings and scratches all over the wood but the metal parts are in great shape with only a few light scratches on them and the screws are unmarred. speaking of which, does your book list the screw sizes? i will need a good gunsmithing tool set with the proper size screwdrivers and punches to disassemble it.
