got a new toy last week
A Weatherby Ultra Light Weight 30-06 rifle. Put a Leupold 1.5x5 VXIII on top.
Can't hardly believe this outfit, Rifle & scope don't hardly weight over 6 pounds (if that). Man is it light to carry and fairly accurate as well. I'm sure that it will do better than the 1.5" groups that I'm averaging (I'm using Federal Premium 165gr BT ammo), but from the bench that light weight becomes a slight hinderance. Even from sandbags after I pull the trigger there "ain't no target in that there scope" <L>. But for field shooting Weatherby did their homework, this gun does perform. Between that "hand-laid" stock & the recoil pad they chose, it is very pleasant to shoot. Just a big "push", but no "punch".
This may never be a tack driver but it is a real fine hunting tool. Plus (& most importantly) my Wife approved because "it is so pretty"... hey it works for me, got me a new toy!
