New Walther Purchaser

BK-BHP/1911

:D

Last week I went to my local gunstore and held a P99.
This is the Best fitting gun I've ever held! It feels even better than my 1911 and custom BHP. After doing lots of research on this forum I decided to get it and should be testing it in a couple of weeks once the Canadian gun redtape clears. I am very impressed that Walther made a 'Canadian' 105mm (legal mininum barrel length) barrel!!! Kimber and others take note!!!! Lots of Canadians like my self would love compact 1911's if only the barrel was just a little bit (about .1 inch or so) longer!!

Unfortunately Canada allows ONLY 10 round mags so I can't purchase any Hicaps. I still got the 9mm since it used the same ammo as my BHP and I buy Cases of ammo to save money. As well if I need a bigger bullet the .45 does it at lower pressures too!!!

I checked the Walther USA site and I'm already planning to order the fobus holster and the Hi-viz lighttube sight!!!

I recently went to a gun show in Hampton Va. My wife picked up the Walther P99 and fell in love with it. She doesn't own any firearms at the moment but that is going to change soon thanks to the P99.

I almost bought the P99 .40cal but could not afford it. Ah well. There is always tomorrow.

Congrats on your purchase.

US >Canada in gun laws anyway. :)

BK,

I must issue a caution to you! You may find that if you're not very careful P99s have a tendency to multiply on you. First it's just one, cause you REALLY like it. Then, it's "one more", just in case the first one is loaned out, or you can't get to it. Then another so you can have one of each caliber. Then "my last one", because you want one in green. THEN, "it's absolutely my last one because it's a QPQ. And then...........................?

To avoid this problem, DO NOT take the gun home. DO NOT find that "special place" for it. AND ABSOLUTELY, DO NOT SHOOT IT!
Instead, immediately ship it to me. I have taken courses in anti- P99 addiction. I know how to control my urges.

Congratulations on your purchase. I KNOW you'll enjoy it.

I would enjoy it more, but such is life.

BK,

Congratulations on your purchase!! I liked the P99 so much that now I've got 6 of them!

Although, I'm also a big Walther fan also.

The P99 is one of my favorite Walther's. I use it all the time in IDPA compeition and do very well with it. I carry it all the time also and find it to be quite comfortable.

Let us know about the shooting session!

lol Big Iron:) Check the Oct 2001 issue of "Guns and Weapons for Law Enforcement for a ringing endorsement of the P99. I love my Kahrs put that P99 is sweet.

Sambonator, even a P-99 chambered, not decocked, then the trigger pulled back slightly until it was set in the short SA mode? The only thing about the weapon I didn't like was the tricky trigger, not intuitive (rtfm!) but may be a liability issue. I agree about the trigger on the DAO P990. But the P99QA has a shorter and more manageable trigger. If you meant lousy = odd design. Well, not sure odd is the word but I would buy the P99 over a Glock *cringe* I'm heading for cover...

;)

Hi Big Iron!
I know the problem of multiplying guns! I first got a C&S BHP which unfortunately had some problems. Of course I had to order a Wickmann BHP which has been delayed due to some problems Mr. Wickmann had and of course with the recent crisis I doubt the US/Canadian Border will allow my dream gun to easily cross in the near future!!!:(

Then I did some research and found out that BHP's last around 50000 rounds so with heavy shooting they'll only last 10-15 years so I'll have to get a few more Wickmann guns as replacements in the future (I don't trust the Gov't in Canada and they may eventually ban import of guns in the future!!!)

So...That's at least 4 custom BHP including the C&S and the yet to be delivered BHP.

Hmmm...when do Walthers wear out?;)
