Sell your USP.

No seriously.

Ok, Ok... I'll be more serious. I own a USP45f - its my favorite auto pistol. But the double action on it blows. Its gritty, long, unpredictable and hard.

I got the match trigger for $99. I had an HK certified gunsmith instal it for $45. I understand the factory will do this for free, but I wanted someone to bitch at that was local if I didnt like it.

So after $144 +tax, The double action pull is gritty, long, unpredictable but not as hard. Maybe I am being a little critical but I have never read anything good about it from anyone, including HK aficionados.

Myself, I shoot it a lot better with the match trigger. The match trigger is by no means all that light - just lighter than the stock trigger. It makes it easier to engage the DA trigger quickly and more smoothly. If I ever pick up that gun for a real purpose, I would immediately cock it. But I still practice one double/one single, one double/one singe, etc...

Good luck!

The da pull on my usp got better after about 500 rounds. It still not a sig but its tolerable now.

I intend to go into harms way.

I have read something intresting regarding newer USPs. There is a lockout device in the grip(as you probably know) that if not diengaged before dropping the slide and then dryfiring(as might happen in a shop) will damage the gun causing an obscene trigger pull. Comments include gritty, rough and upwards of 16#. Don't know if this helps, but thought I'd pass it along.

I got it used. They prev. owner said he put about 500 rds. through it. And I'm just not use to DA. The trigger pull just so long and heavy. I expect the round to go off at point x and it doesn't. stood on the line did some dry firing with a snap cap and shot a bunch decocking after every shot. Eventually, it was decent, but I had to go real slow. I don't think it matters though, in a situation where would need something, I would pull the slide back a little to check if its loaded. That will cock it, and I'll be set

The woman at the gun store is telling you a story. I believe that German law requires the serial number to be placed on the slide, barrel, and frame. Call HK. I doubt that HK is shipping guns from its factory with different numbers. Something on the gun was probably changed.

The double action on USPs is for restrike capability only ;).

I'm only half kidding - cock, lock, and quit bitching...

Still sounds fishy. Why would HK send out a weapon w/3 different SN's? Doesn't add up. Pisol could have been strip of components for exchanges. We do something like that in the consumer electronics field to remedy problems for the customer so as to not take up time to send it back to manf. for "proper" exchanges and warranty work.

DA pull on HK USP 9 is bad. Couldn't force myself to buy this thing, bought CZ-75B instead. Very, very happy I did this...
HK was $600, CZ-75 was $300. Can't figure out
why such a difference...CZ guys obviously don't know what a beauty they make and HK guys don't know that 1 DM=0.5$.

New factiry pistol must have all matching
numbers, period.

While the only number that really matters is the one on the frame, I'd never biy a European pistol without all matching numbers. In the US only the frames get a number while in Europe, as other have said, the frames, slides and barrels are assigned the same number. A European pistol without matching numbers is of unknown origins. Perhaps it was put together from stolen parts, maybe it was repaired by HK after a major problem, etc. etc. Why take a chance?

So many pistols, so little money.

That's a load of CRAP... ALL serials on the USP weapons should match..Barrel-Frame-reciever... If they don't, return the weapon.

You will find that the USP compacts have a MUCH better double & single action trigger than the full size versions. Why I do not know.

Yeah, I know a few HK's that have non-matching SN's. They were HOT. So I would stay away from ones that don't match, because if you buy it, late one night, the cops might come a knocking on your door saying the SN on the slide that was used in an armed robbery matches the one on your gun...

There are things that get screwed up, there are lemon's regardless of the brand; but nobody EVER screws up the SN, because that's a lawsuit so big it's not funny....
