New (used) Model 27-2

I need to quite window shopping, just after I bought a Dan Wesson .357 my local shop got in a really nice S&W model 27-2 6". It is in great shape and includes the box, cleaning kit and original paperwork. The box is a little ratty, but the gun is clean. It has been fired, but probably not much. I tried to talk them down a little, but I think they knew I was hooked. Do I really need another .357? No, probably not. I had to put it on layaway and will pay it off in a month or two. BTW I paid $300 - is that an OK price for a 27?

Will post pictures and a range report when I finally go pick it up. Too many guns, not enough money (or time to shoot them!)

Original box and paperwork always raise the value a bit. Grab that 27 you won't be sorry. Mine is a honey of a shooter!

LOL! You're either gloating or pulling our collective leg, right?
$300.00 would be a good price for a Model 28 (plain finish N Frame .357Mag) in decent shape without the box and accessories. For a great shape 27-2, $300.00 borders on a steal. I've been looking for a deal like that for about 4 years now. Mid $400's is the best I've found.

That sounds like a good deal to me. I think I paid $350 for mine. As far as I am concerned, two rules apply here. #1 You can't have too many guns. #2 For me at least, you can't have enough .357s.
I never actually sat down one day and decided that .357 was my faviorite caliber or anything, but I must have close to 10 .357s. And I could't tell you my faviorite, Ok, maybe it is the GP100, but every one of them is beautiful.

$300 is a good price on a 27-2 if it is in great condition. I paid $375 for my 8 3/8" 27-2 in LNIB condition. The big thing to look for on a 27 is for flame cutting on the top strap. I drove 250 miles to look at one that was 95% outside, but was flame cut so bad you could see the notches on the side of the topstrap with the cylinder closed.

27-2 is a GREAT revolver (my personal favorite) and $300 is an outstanding price, if it is in excellent condition.

"Run, Do Not Walk" to get that S&W model 27. Great firearm,
at a good price.

Count me as one of those who say "Grab it!". The Model 27 is a great firearm and I doubt that you will ever regret getting it. Especially at that price.

Warning!

Once you get it you will NEVER be happy until you get a matching Model 28. :D

Thanks for the feedback. I was hoping that it was a good price. This shop has a funny way of pricing stuff. Sometimes they are pretty high on stuff and other times they have good prices. He told me it all depends on "what they have into it" - They had another 27 in good shape for $349 and two model 28's one for $275 that was pretty worn and another that was gloss blue (either from factory or a re-blue?) It was also in nice shape, but was the same price as the 27 that I bought. Revolvers just seem to sit in this guy's case - he sells lots of Glocks, HK's and 1911's but I see the same revolvers in his case for months sometimes. I jumped on this 27 though since it was cheaper than the other one and I think in better shape.

I don't think the 28 came in gloss blue, it was more subdued. However it maybe worth taking a look at. As i said, you will NEVER be happy until your 27 has a 28 to go with it.

Hint: Many people are going for the newer semi's (I have a large handful myself) and are leaving some great revolver buys behind. Check them out carefully, they may be worth extending yourself slightly. Heck, offer the guy $25-50 cash less than he is asking and see what he does. If these are not moving, he may be willing to let it go to get rid of it. Especially if you are a repeat customer. The worst he can do is say no.

Don't do it, Mak!!!

No, that's a terrible price! Don't listen to all those foolish people. In fact, send me the name & address of the person selling a M-27 for $300 and I'll personally tell him...

...hopefully he'll take my personal check!!!
