Hi All... Been enjoying lurking around here for a while but this is my first post. It was gun show weekend and I picked up a couple of nice pieces that I've just gotta show off.
First, I've been looking for an airweight snub for a while and this is what I settled on. A brand new S&W Mod 37-2. Apparently this was a special run for the Japanese National Police and the overrun became available to dealers. It's blued (Blued cylinder and barrel, annodozed frame) with NO LOCK and firing pin on the hammer. It's a true 37-2 but of current manufacture. Shoots like a dream. You know it went bang, but it's not too punishing with standard target loads. I fired 75 rounds yesterday with no problem. It's amazingly accurate too. It's fairly smooth out of the box, but could use a slight trigger job to lighten the DA trigger pull.
The one I'm really excited about, though, is a nearly mint S&W Mod 586 (no dash). It has the slightest holster wear at the end of the barrel, but otherwise about perfect. What makes this one special, is that it's identical to the first Smith I ever owned. It was the first L-frame I could find when they were introduced in 1980. I was 16 and when the cop at my high school found out that I bought one he asked me to bring it to school to show him... boy how things have changed. I traded it long ago and always regretted doing that so I feel like I'm reunited with a long-lost friend. I don't think I'll let this one get away. My first shot out of this one was about an inch right of the bull's eye and the second was dead center. It's a keeper!
Anyone know the production years of the 586 (no dash) 1980-?? The grips are stamped "10 1982" but I can't say for sure that they're original.
Anyway, I'm excited and just wanted to share my new treasures.
