New toys (Duelers) on the way

Just won a set of the Hamilton Burr duelers on gunbroker at a favorable price. I've wanted a set of these since they were first issued but wasn't going to pay what (at the time 1981) amounted to about three months pay.
Just goes to prove the old saying "All good things comes to he who waits"
Now if I can just find my .530 round ball mold.

Very nice! I can see why you wanted them! Enjoy! :)

And, oh yea . . . . if you use 'em for dueling . . . let your opponent fire first . . . then you take your time. :D

Strange you should mention that. It did cross my mind to see if I could come up with a patched wax RB load of about 250 to 300fps and dig out my fencing masks and jackets. Hmmmmm!

I wonder if that extra long nose cap is solid brass or sheet brass.
If it's solid then it would add a good deal of weight to the gun which would probably serve to stabilize the muzzle when taking a shot.
Single set triggers?
That's an awfully nice looking set of guns and they look to be in pristine condition.
I'm glad that you found what you've had a hankering for. :)

Arcticap. They are supposed to be exacting detail copies of the originals so they should be solid. I would guess you are right that it was meant to stabalize the muzzle. That would be important in a duel.
Yes they have set triggers.
