New toy

My neighbor just gave me this old muzzle loader. It is a Navy Arms (Zoli) in 58 caliber. It's all there and I have some balls and patches on the way. It seems fairly well made and I would appreciate any opinions on this rifle and any estimate of value. I plan to shoot it, not sell it. The nipple is very large and I guess it is for a musket cap although I have never seen one. Thanks.

I have one but haven't worked up a load yet for it but it was shooting cloverleaf groups @25 yards with the .570 ball and a .01 patch. Can't remember the powder charge. One thing I did do is replace the ramrod (flimsy wooden one ) with a fiberglass rod using the original hardware and epoxy. I was afraid the wood one would break and I'd ram it through my hand seating a tight ball. They are built like a tank and a real handy hunting rig. You do not lose much power with the shorter barrel.

Thanks. I'll let you know how it shoots. Hellgate, I know what you mean about the ramrod. I will replace it soon.
