New toy time

I have been wanting an Encore for a few years and found a used one for a decent price. It came with the 45lc/410 barrel which is cool and will get some use around the farm. I wanted to stretch it out and yote hunt with it so I ordered a custom barrel from MGM. It is a full bull 12in .223 barrel with a 1 /12 twist for light bullets. I cannot wait to break this baby in and see what it will do.

very cool looking piece i have never seen one of those... if you dont mind me asking what is a decent price?
I think for a frame between $250 and $400 depending on if it is new or used, stainless or blued. New they are right around $400. If it has a barrel, between $500 and $600 again depending on the condition and what barrel. The custom barrel I got is $310.

Nice pistol Brian, what is the barrel?

I hope that is one heck of a barrel!

(And it probably is one. I'm not too familar with Encore barrels.)

I have always wondered, what type of range/accuracy people get from Encores compared to a 16-18" rifle in the same caliber?

Mine is not an encore but just a Contender with 14 inch 223 barrel and scope. From rest there is no problem being in a 3 inch circle at 100 yards where my AR's would be less than 1 inch. Just can't quite hold that steady with a pistol.

My 14" Contender 223 barrel will pick up a ground squirrel about 4' off the ground and fling him 10' to the left or right.

You'll love the 223 in the Encore.

I love the 22 long rifle barrel most.

From a solid rest, there's no practical difference in accuracy.... from real field positions, it's another world.

I can shoot about 2" groups at 40 yards off-hand with my Encore but at 100 I do not achieve acceptable accuracy for hunting. From a rest, I can shoot under 1" at 100 all day.
