It is an appealing piece of steel and walnut. Shoot it with great satisfaction.

Of course some monkey burred up the side plate screws. The small screw on the sight blade is probably messed up as well. WHY DO PRIMATES DO SUCH THINGS IF THEY ARE TRULY SUPERIOR TO THE OTHER ANIMALS? ;)

I guess you can figure out I've spent a sizable sum buying screws for S&W revolvers through the years.

Actually, it is mostly the glare from the lighting making the sideplate screws look to be burred.

I had to look for awhile before I finally found a 4" M28. Bought two 6" M28's while I was looking. Now I own three. They are among my favorites. Great shooters.

SirWilliam:

1)Thanks!:D

2)Yes, BillCA's 28-2 is a nice one also!

3)Did you ever post a picture of your Model 28-as I don't recall seeing it(Unless I missed it?)?

Very sharp.

I picked up a no-dash 4" M28 a few years back. Great pistol. I love shooting mine. Slapped a set of Fitz grips on it. Nice.

No, I didn't. I thought Tamara did. I picked up three sweet revolvers from www.coalcreekarmory.com this year. I hope for more next year. I found my M28, M19 and M15 there. The M19 had been tuned by a expert. It has a home next to my Dan Wesson M15-2V and Pistol Pak in 357 Magnum. I prefer the matte finish on the M28s.

I have both 4- and 6-inch Model 28s.

I really like the platform, but am seriously considering selling the 6-inch because I don't really like that barrel length, and I rarely shoot it anymore.

Mike, I like my 6" M28. I prefer 5" barrels admittedly, better balance. The 6" simply absorbs recoil and is gentle. I usually shoot 180 gr 357 Magnum JHPs and they are snappy or wrist punishing in 2" and sharp in 4" barrels. The big N frame 6" M28 is pleasing to shoot for me.

I'm with you Sir William. I prefer the 6" models for the same reasons. Plus I like the look of revolvers with six inch barrels - have since I was a kid some twenty two years ago when I got my first magnum revolver. The other reason I like six inch wheelies is that many people don't. Makes it easier for me to get some great deals.

I didn't realize that 28s were hard to find. Maybe locally? I see lots of them on the Internet gun selling sites. I decided this past summer that I should have a 4" M28 and through some strangeness wound up buying two of them. Not as sancy as the 27 but a sturdy revolver with character.
