I've been in the market for a deer gun, so today at the Market Hall show in Dallas, I picked up a Russian Mosin-Nagant Model 1944 in 7.62X54mm. :D It's never been fired, only a few dings 'n' scratches from being moved around in storage. I'm going to test it out (hopefully) on Monday. We also picked something up for Darth, but I'll let her have the satisfaction of bragging about it! :D

Jedi, be careful those old Mosins will get under your skin and you will want more. P.S. the first couple of shots lulls you into a sense of hey, not too bad of a kick. After 10 rounds you begin to respect it, after 20 you're looking for a shooting pad! For the money you can't beat this rifle. A great time tested piece! Have fun. Just remember to clean it properly because of the corrosive ammo. A good start is http://www.mosin~nagant.net
 
Thanks for the info on the ammo! Does anyone manufacture 7.62X54 without corrosive primers?
