New toy/ccw

Hi all, so I currently own a g19, and I recently ordered a shield in 9mm for various purposes, mostly summer cc. So I don't necessarily have an issue concealing the g19, but if my woman decides to take the shield for herself, which likely will happen, I would like something for myself.

To get to the point, I am leaning towards a .45, mostly because it has been on my mind for quite some time. I have looked into the shield in .45 and I have looked at a G36, but I'm not quite sure what the best route would be. Are smaller .45s worth buying or would it be more wise to buy a compact like a G30 or the m&p45c? I would like to carry iwb so being easier to conceal than my g19 is probably ideal. I would be shooting this gun a lot in my yard for fun/practice.

My favorite CCW 45's are the HK 45C and the M&P 45 Compact.

With that said, both of those are pretty comparable to the G19, not really easier to conceal.

If you're wanting something smaller, the XDS 45 or Shield 45 are probably your best options. The Glock 36 is nice, but it's kind of a bastard son in the Glock world. Doesn't have magazine interchangeability with the others. The Glock 30 is pretty fat in the grip. I have owned the Gen 3 Glock 30 and the Glock 30S. I have handled and shot the Gen4 Glock 30 and the grip is much nicer. I have sold them all but I would consider giving them another shot if they made a Gen4 Glock 30S.... but I probably prefer the M&P 45 Compact over it anyways. But again, we're getting back into larger guns than what you're looking for.

So far I am happy with my Springfield XD Mod 2 .45 Compact. Smaller than G19 yet very shootable. Both M & P Compact and Shield .45 might be thinner.

Of all the pistols you listed, the only one I've shot is the XDs in .45. :o It's a surprisingly soft shooter, though. If I were looking for something smaller in stature and larger in bore than a G19, I'd give that one a hard look.

I don't care for the way the G36 (or a number of other pistols) use the magazine as part of the grip. Every one I've ever felt was wiggly.

You best bet is to look at a S&W Shield, "easier to conceal than a G-19" is tough since everybody makes a holster for the 19

Yeah I see what you're saying. I mean it's not that I wouldn't carry my g19 in the fall/winter, but on days where I wear a t ahirt and cargos, I couldn't imagine daily tasks with it like sitting down at a table. Maybe it's just me but I think the shield is probably the way to go. I would love to stay with glock but the gl36 might as well be the same size as the g19 from the looks of it.

CCW 45's

The two small 45's I have are the Colt Defender and the M&P Shield. Both are easy to carry IWB and extremely reliable. I tend to favor the Colt, not really sure why. Several hundred rounds through both without a problem.
