Been eyeing this (Taurus 44 mag Ultralite), and the S&W 329PD for a couple years now. Picked this over the S&W because I couldn't stomach the ~$400 premium for the 329.

At 28 ounces, I expected it to be pretty terrible on recoil, and while it's not exactly light on recoil, it's really not that bad (I do love big recoiling pistols though). With 44 specials, it's a ***** cat. With mags, hold on tight.

One issue I'm having is ejection is a little sticky with mags. Not so bad I have to use a dowel to knock them out with, but the brass does stick some. Read of this problem after placing my order for it. I might send it back to Taurus after hunting season and let them fix it, or may work on it myself.

Overall though, even with the ejection issue, I think I'm in love with it! :)

Trigger is pretty decent. No gritty feeling, smooth, and just a hair heavy, but overall good. It's good enough that I won't mess with it any.

Very Nice!

I own a Taurus .44 Special with a titanium cylinder. Heavy .44 special loads are sticky in it's cylinder, also.

I never paid much attention to the cases sticking a bit, because they have yet to require anything but a little extra push on the extractor rod to remove.

I think it is something with the stretch and rebound properties of the titanium.

Great revolver! I wouldn't worry about using the heck out of it!

The only thing about the red insert that is a gimmick, is that they made it red rather than leaving it black. It's not removable, and is simply part of the grip. Having the back strap covered by a rubber grip definately seems to help with recoil. I imagine without it being covered, it'd be pretty painful to shoot...much like I hear with the S&W 329PD.

I probably won't bother with sending it in for sticky extraction. They do extract, and it seems to have gotten better with use for some reason, so I'll likely keep it as is.

This gun really is alot of fun. I've put around 130 rounds through it, half of which were my reloads. I like it enough that I might eventually end up getting the S&W 329PD.
