New Tools/toys

I got a new toy (Cooper Excalibur in .280 rem) and want to know what yall think about optics selection. I have it narrowed down to a couple...Schmidt & Bender 3-12x42 Illuminated #7 or a Swarovski Z5 3-18x44 BT. Uses: Hunting will be the primary use, and of course with range time to tinker with ammo. I dont have anything against a good ol Leupold, Nikon, Zeiss, Huskemaw, etc. They are definitely good to great optics. Problem is, I want better. The high magnification is also necessary with the 400-500 yard shot being very common. I have shot through a swarovski on my brothers rifle and was very impressed with it. Impressed to the point of wanting to get rid of the VX3 I use :). Anyways, I dont have any experience with the Schmidt & Bender but have only read and heard that it is the best hunting scope you can buy. Both are just about the same price (too much). Suggestions??
