New (to me) Super RedHawk... yay!

I just traded a Glock 21 with a few accessories for a Super Redhawk .44, 7 1/2 barrel, with a Burris 2X scope mounted on top.

I checked the cylinder play when the trigger was held down, and there is only a little side-to-side wiggling (not much at all, compared to the other guns I was looking at at the gun show). I don't believe there is any front-to-back play. The gap between the cylinder and barrel is very, very tiny too. Can't see it without holding it up to a light.

It was pretty dirty, so I cleaned the outside of it pretty well, but haven't done a dissasembly yet. I couldn't wait to go shoot it today and didn't have time yesterday. :)

Anything I should look for before I bang away with this guy? Everything seems pretty smooth so far. I bought some specials and some magnums to play with.

How decent are Burris scopes? (I don't know anything about scopes).

Thanks all, this should make a fun addition to my small but growing collection. :)

took it to the range today, and damn it shoots sweet. I didn't have a screwdriver with me so the magnum rounds were jarring the scope rings loose every 2 shots, but on std. sights it was dead on accurate after a few tweaks.

Now I just have to figure out if I'm going to be buying ammo, or reloading it. :-)

Oh, and my hand was pretty numb after each cylinder of mags. Specials were nothing at all though and very comfortable to shoot.

I think I was shooting Dallas Ammunition reloads.

Oh, is the Hogue grip nicer than the std Redhawk grip? I'm thinking about changing out for a better hand-hold.

phungus, . . . I have one basically just like yours, . . . and your comment, of "YAY" is accurate. It is one fun gun to shoot.

If I were you, I would take some time to get used to shooting that baby, especially with downloaded reloads till you are really pleased with your ability with it. You might find out then, that you don't need to change the grip.

I had planned on changing mine also, . . . but after doing just what I said above, I changed my mind, . . . and did not change the grips.

I just had to get used to them, . . . they are somewhat different from almost any other "stock" hand gun grip.

Anyway, . . . welcome to the fold.

May God bless,
Dwight
