I plan on using it for shooting informal clays, doves, and ocassionally rabbits. I bought it because I wanted it for a backup gun and also for sentimental reasons because my brother had one just like it that was passed on to his son after my brothers untimely death. I always loved his 1100 and thought someday I would buy one and that day has finally come. I never thought I would find one exactly like his but just got lucky.

I just pulled my Dad's out a few weeks ago because I'm getting back into guns - I believe a similar year70's 1100.
I think you did great as from the photos and comparing to the one in the safe, it looks excellent.
I'm going to "buy" it from him for 100.00, but that is really just to give him some ammo money, but you did really well. They had a few up at a gun store we were looking at and they were in the 4-500 range - list.
We didn't get around to taking it out to shoot, so I am dying to run some rounds through it as I am sure you are too.
My Dad had mentioned a recall back in the day about some thin barrels on these guns. Does anyone recall anything about that? He has never had a problem, although this gun was not shot a lot and was primarily my Moms for occasional clay.
Although I do remember and will for the rest of my life when my Mom saved our butts in N.C. Me and my brother ran over a huge water moccason snake with our bikes by accident and after running and screaming to her, she went down and pulled out the 1100, loaded it up, and went straight out and blew that snakes head right off! What a Mom - and I will keep that gun in the family.

I can recall .....
Was on the barrels. They had a bunch questionable barrels up and all the gun magazines had notices about providing serial numbers, they reviewed them and rebated you $50.00 per barrel. Back then, I submitted four and only one was rejected. .....

I hope that is true. I will let you know what I think after some range time.
Was not sure if shotguns were allowed on the outdoor rifle range. Dad thought not - only over by trap/skeet. Can I just take it to the range and shoot at some targets or something? Sorry for such a newby question, but have been away from guns for a long time and with my Dad moving close now it is fun to go shooting and buying and sharing his passion.
