New to Glocks question . . .

I recently stumbled onto a Glock 21 in a trade with a friend. It came with some hi-cap mags so I checked the serial number through Glockmeister to see when it was manufactured. It was made in mid 1991.

So my question is:
I've heard a lot of discussion of 2nd gen Glocks vs. 3rd gen Glocks and I'm somewhat familiar with the discussion. But I'm not sure about my 21. Since it was made around the same time that the 21 entered the market does that make this a 1st gen Glock (if there is such a thing)? And if so is there anything special, different, needs to be changed/upgraded about it?

If your G21 has a 90 cut on the rear of the ejection port, it should get the beveled cut mod, and most likely a firing pin update.

I bought a used Glock 21 some time back, and sent it off to Glock for the chamber cut and firing pin update. It came back looking like a new gun, and basically all the internals were new. Price $0, and it took less than two weeks from the time I shipped it until I had it back.

Ig:

Good advice above. Go to Glockmeister site, or call him (Ben Paz) on his toll free number, as listed on his web page). Ben is the most knowledgeable person you will find west of Smyrna, GA. regarding glocks.

Ben will tell you what, if anything, you need to do to your G-21. If you send it to Glock for any work, you will be thrilled with the results and the price. Ben will do the same work, but usually has to charge for things that Glock does for free.

Stay safe,
