I don't have a club near by so I am just getting ready for when I find one so I'm doing the research and making mistakes on my on. I have a couple Uberti 1873s in 357mag and was wondering what bullet s are legal for sass matches also what bullets are legal for a 1892 44-40 rifle. Thank you .....PS it wouldn't hurt my feelings if you also gave load data for the bullets!!

Lead only. Most use RNFP's 1000 fps maximum velocity for pistols, 1400 fps for rifles. Minimum power factor of 60 with no loads under 400 fps.
Power factors are simply calculated by multiplying the bullet weight times the velocity and then the resulting number is divided by 1000. Some examples are as follows:
100 gr bullet traveling at 600 fps has a power factor of 60: (100x600)/1000=60.00
77 gr bullet traveling at 800 fps has a power factor of 61.6 (77x800)/1000=61.60
200 gr bullet traveling at 400 fps has a power factor of 80 (200x400)/1000=80.00

You can go here and find whatever you need to know. http://sassnet.com/forums/index.php?act=idx

I shoot 38. special with 158gr bullet. The targets are set to be knock down with a 158 gr bullet. I use Trail Boss powder just can't remember the data.

If you're just getting started don't limit yourself to SASS there is also NCOWS ,the rules are slightly different and the equipment required is different also .
