New to BP

I have been considering a BP revolver for awhile.

I know it exists; but I forget the name of, a BP 44 or 45 revolver that has available drop-in cylinders for 45LC blackpowder loads.

So I guess I am first asking the NAME of the revolver? :)

Then a few more questions: how much do they run? who sells them? does the cartridge cylinder require a FFL? what loads are safe in the cartridge cylinder and who sells them? or do I need to reload?

Any thoughts/comments about the quality of this/these? reliability? fun????
thanks 1,000,000

Welcome to the BP crowd.

You've got hundreds of centuries of heritage behind you. From the simple gonnes that were affixed to a shaft of wood and lit with a stick to the modern in-line guns of today. For me, it's a lot more challenging than the modern guns.

Ruger Old Army. Those cylinders cost about $300 from Brownells.

The drop in cylinders are an aftermarket item, They sell them to fit into either the Rugers, or the steel framed remington clones.

Taylor and Company currently sells them

They do not require an ffl, and are safe with cowboy loads only.

Can't comment on reliability or fun, cuz I havn't ordered mine yet, but I will, eventually.
