Hey guys I just got to handle a new stainless 5&12 inch barrel Taurus Single action in 45. Man it felt good just like a Colt and the 4 clicks just like a colt. Have any of you shot one? They want $389 for it.

tarus weapons are as good made as any out there.the price is always right. they are lifetime gaurenteed and they have excellent service if you need it. you cant go wrong getting a tarus. i dont know why people spend extra getting a smith or berettas when the tarus copy is just as good. their weapons are accurate and well made.their mellinieum models are awsome ccw weapons and their ragingbull series cant be beat for value and accuracy. get it you wont ever be mad. now pay double or 3 times for a different brand then shoot a tarus and you will kick your self.

All I know is that the internals have been modified so that the guns can be fanned without it harming them.
Most people are not aware that you cannot fan a standard SA revolver without breaking every spring in the peice and scoring the cylinder in 100 rounds.
Taurus was wise to realize this and design the gun to withstand such abuse.
Kudos to them!

Jack Malloy, tell that to Bob Munden who regularly fans his Colt SAA's faster than most people can fire an autoloader. You can't believe this guy unless you see him.

Actually, you need to talk to Bob Munden. He customizes those guns so they can take being fanned without coming apart.
He actually recommends that you do not even FIRE or COCK a new SAA without having it modified first.
Hes also one of the best gunsmiths in the world working on SAA and SAA style revolvers.
He will be the first person to tell you that if you try to fan a standard Colt or Colt copy without having it modified you are gonna break every spring in the gun within 100 rounds and score the cylinder.
I don't know if he has a web site, but he used to run ads in gun magazines advertising modifications that he would do to a gun to improve its longevity and make it fannable.
Some of Mundens modified guns can fire 60,000 rounds without breaking a part. In addition to releiving the parts that rub against each other (springs and bolts) Munden also cuts the bolt notches deeper on the cylinder.

Now, read this and weep....

"When Bob Munden started shooting in professional Fast-Draw tournaments at age 11, the first thing he discovered was that the Colt single-action revolver was not designed for Fast Draw - a sport invented by the movies. When his gun broke down, through the processes of experimentation and elimination he figured out how to improve the parts of the single action revolver so they could withstand, with longevity, the abuse of Fast Draw the way he wanted to shoot it: FAST.
Throughout his competition years, Bob continued to improve the original design of the five moving parts of the single action -- and developed several key innovations including Bob's unique modifications of the cylinder notches and locking bolt (called "latch" on a Ruger,) and Munden's Coil Main Spring Conversion™, a major, optional, upgrade on a Munden Premier Race Gun™ that eliminates breakdowns.

Note: A stock single-action revolver (a gun straight from the factory,) is just not ready for repeated use and can be damaged quite easily - and remember Fast-Drawing a stock gun will, without question, damage the gun."

"As a kid, Bob had no money for gunsmiths - and there weren't any around who knew how to build guns to make them hold up through thousands of rounds of Fast Draw practice, and up to 3 tournaments a weekend, in the 1950s. After developing key innovations for building super-strong, reliable, single actions and perfecting his craft, Bob began customizing guns for other shooters as well.."

In Elmer Keith's book "Sixguns" he mentions modifications that can keep the springs from breaking and explains why it will happen when you fan a Colt.
Charles Askins book on Handgunning mentions that the reason the old SAA was so popular was not because it was indestructible, but becuase it was so easy to repair.
Of course, I learned about the fragile nature of Sixgun springs the hard way by fastdrawing and fanning single actions till the parts broke....
One dead giveaway that a used SAA has been abused by fanning is deeply scored cylinders and burrs on the locking bolt cutouts.
