I just got my new (to me) Ruger Super Redhawk 454 casull! I'm very excited about this gun..I have wanted one for a long time. It has the 9-1/2" barrel, and is target grey. It's got a Hogue Tamer grip and is topped with a Simmons Prohunter 2-6x scope. Anyone have a 9-1/2" Super Redhawk with a scope on it? Where can I find a hardshell case to fit this monster? What do you guys use?

Awesome looking beast. I love the grey finish and unfluted cylinder. Let us know how it shoots. I use a bandolier holster for my Contender. I have a Bushnell 2-7 scope but I'm looking for a red dot to replace it.

I just got a nice "Winchester" case at Sportsman's Warehouse for $39 for my scoped Mqrk III . . . I saw a bigger one for $49 which would accomodate your 9.5 inch easily. The case in the picture, I picked up for $20 at the BX for my 7.5" .454 SRH.

Keep your scope, and get an extra set of 30mm rings for a red dot. Make sure that the controls on the red dot will fit between the rings because the can only mount in one place . . .

You are probably just going to have to buy a generic foam lined metal/plastic hardcase for it. Most likely one that is actually made to hold two guns. I like the grey finish too. Do you plan to hunt with it?

Farmalljon:

You have a nice revolver: one of the best. However, I think that you should consider replacing the Simmons scope. I don't think that it will hold up under the heavy recoil of a .454.

My 9 1/2" SRH in .44 magnum is satin stainless. It had a scope but I took it off in favor of the iron sights. I don't have a hard case for it, I use a padded suede zip up case. Here it is with some of the other wheel guns:

How is yours with the .454? I can easily shoot mine one handed as long as I don't try to keep it down. I just let the recoil lift it letting my elbow bend, and then let it settle back on target.

I have the same 9 1/2" in the .480 Ruger. Ruger makes a khaki color rug that it just barely fits with a scope. Also, have a nylon shoulder holster, don't remember the brand, that fits nicely with the scope.
Congrats on your purchase!

I have a 2.5x8x28 Nikon on mine, over sure fire fibre optics.
Took a Ruger soft bag & had a Butler Creek rifle sling put on for a carry strap.I know sounds goofy but it works good.Just leave one end unzipped its just like a shoulder holster. Works with or without a scope.

THE 454 works great on hogs,But its a little rough on deer up close.;)

I was looking into buying one of those in 480 Ruger the other day; looked exactly the same, but chickened out and got a Super Blackhawk 44 Magnum instead. Was afraid that I'd only shoot it once and regret it because of the recoil.

That is a nice looking gun though.

Here's my little collection of wheel guns.

Another good thing about this gun is shooting 45long colt ammo, very low recoil makes great range time,Just clean cylinder real good before returning to 454 rounds,it will build pressure bad & make shells very hard to extract.
