New storekeeper Bearcat?

I don't have one, probably won't ever own one. I don't like the idea for using .22lr for self defense, so I wouldn't use it as a concealed carry. It would be a range toy, and for a gun that I am going to only be using at the range I want something physically larger, a longer barrel, and probably a more powerful caliber.

It is a very small single action, if this appeals to you, it might be a gun for you. For me, there are just so many other things that I want a lot more than a shopkeeper bearcat.

I don't like the idea for using .22lr for self defense,

When Ruger was trying to decide whether to make this model, I seriously doubt there was much discussion on whether it would make an effective self defense revolver.

The Bearcat has always been an excellent woods revolver. Or fishing companion for snakes and snapping turtles. Mine is an original from the 60's and unconverted.

The Shopkeeper is a neat little design. It does suffer from something endemic to the size.... the ejector rod won't get you full extraction. So you start the empties out with the rod but you will probably have to pluck them out with your fingers. Not a speedy operation but you pay a price for that short barrel!

Tell you what, If I didn't already have a Model 63 that I use for a camp gun/hiking gun ( plus several others ) I would run you over getting to that Ruger. That is one sweet looking gun that would serve well in the role a.22 should serve. JMHO

Sweet little sixgun and I agree, it was never intended as a self defense gun. Believe it or not, some folks actually carry and use handguns outdoors!
