The Stoeger model 2000 that was reviewed in the American rifleman a couple of months ago peaked my interest. So I did a little research on it. It sells for 400 +- at lisc.net (typically ball park to my dealer) and is made by Vursan which is owned by Baretta. baretta owns Benelli and as far as I can tell the model 2000 is a 3" short recoil Benelli made in Turkey. Looks like a good deal to me. Wonder if they will make it in 20 ga.?

That's a real good price-----the only one I've ever seen was marked at $599-----and the stock was a beautiful piece of wood--both front and back.

It was the same price as the 11-87 Upland Special that I was looking at----in the end--I decided to go for a little more and took my money I had for an autoloader and put a Red Label on lay-a-way---also with a beautiful stock--which can't always be said about Red Labels---another month or two and its mine.

Now that I looked at the Stoeger site----it was the Deluxe model they had for $599.

Yeah, if you can get ahold of the Stoeger, Benelli, and Franchi catalogs, you can see how the bolts in their respective main line guns are almost identical nowadays.

The Stoeger is close but not quite the same as the Benelli. The recoil spring is around the magazine tube on the Stoeger. I think most of the other internals are the same.

I've got one.......I think!

I purchased a "Luger" semiauto not long ago which was imported by Stoeger which looks for all the world just like the one you're talking about. It also looks like the Traditions and Huglu semi-auto.

My rifle was made in Turkey but is extremely well made and has an excellent fit and finish and very nice checkering on a beautiful wood stock. I paid $350 for it and got to try it out two weeks ago for the first time. It's aluminum and the entire shotgun only weighs 6.5 pounds!

I've never shot clays before but I was hitting almost 50% my first time out. I was really pleased. The action is just great and it came with three chokes and the choke tool. My shooting partner, a big DU hunter, tried it out and was hitting 100% right off the bat and said it handled better than his Benelli semi.

The Turks build a great gun so don't let the price fool you. In my research, I've read many shooters with a similar opinion.

Here's a photo of my post above

Sorry,

I put the wrong photo it and blew the editing. Here's the photo of my Luger 12 Gauge semi. It takes a 3" cartridge, too.
