Ive been wanting another stock on my enfield No 1 mark 3 but all i can find is the Monte carlo stock. I have heard that it messes up the balance of the rifle. Is this true and are there any other stocks I can get out there? Where can I look?
I have the synthetic monte carlo stock on one of my No.4 Mk1's and it seems fine.
I have found replacement wood stocks on eBay as well.
Hunt around the net. They are out there.
"...messes up the balance of the rifle..." Nope. One of my first rifles, long ago, was a bubba'd No. 1 with a really nice Bishop(long gone, unfortunately) walnut MC stock. Headspace was bad. Parted it out. sniff.
A No. 1 stock isn't interchangeable with a No. 4 stock.
Gunparts lists several issue No. 1 butt walnut stocks in assorted lengths for reasonable money. The 'assorted length' part is important. Shooting a No. 1 with a too long or too short, hurts. http://www.e-gunparts.com/products_new.asp?CatID=11952
Have a look at what Boyd's has too. http://www.boydsgunstocks.com/RIA-Replacement-Stocks-for-Military-Actions-s/119.htm
