New stock for a Savage 110FP tactical

I own a savage 110FP Tactical. I am looking into upgradeing the stock. Right now it is in the stock set up. I was looking to get an adjustable stock. I have looked around and the only things I can find are McMillan A-2 and the Ultimate Sniper stock. These both claim to be "drop in" stocks. Does anyone have experience with either? Is it really "Drop in"? Any suggestions for a stock? Anyone know a good gunsmith in central Mass?

While I have a Remington 700, I went with the Choate stock first. It was cheap and a bit more comfortable to shoot than the H-S Precision stock that came on the rifle with it's better adjustment. Finally, I got tired of the weight of the thing and went with a McMillian A4 stock. I found nirvana with this stock! Comfortable, adjustable lighter than the Choate stock and most of all, didn't ahve that ^&*($#(Q thumbhole stock! The problem with thumbhole stocks is that you have to stickyour thumb in and out before you can work the bolt. This makes for an awkward stock to use. My advice is to go with the McMillan from the start. They do drop in, but I bedded mine just to get it tighter than the factory inleted stock.

I got the Choate stock from Delta Press and the McMillan from McMillan themselves. Keep in mind that it takes a while for them to get the stock to you since it has to be built to you specification. Mine took me about 4 months but it was well worth the wait to have a stock with the features I wanted. I have nothing but good things to say about McMillan's stocks!
