New stock for a old gun

Hey guys and gals , I bought a swiss K-31 a few weeks back and it had a cracked stock ...that stock was not on the gun .
Some one replaced the original beat-up stock with a beautyful walnut replacement upper and lower matched stock ...I will post a pic of this stock ...it just makes these guns look like new .
I managed to find the manufacture of these walnut stocks and ordered one set for another one of my K-31's that needed more stock work than would justify me spending that much time to try and save .
It's been years since I stained stocks or added any kind of finish .
What finish would you guys recommend , I don't want anything shinny but would like a color close to the original walnut finish .

Looks mighty good as is. I like potassium permanganate that you'll need a doctor friend to write you a prescription for.
I've used it on my K-31 also and it gives dull finish with linseed oil on it!.

everything old is new again

I bought this 7.7jap last year for $102. It had a cut down stock so I finished the job right by adding a scope removing the iron sights reworking the bolt to clear the scope and reduced the trigger pull by butting a very narrow and slight bevel on the sear and polishing it, also took about 3 inches off the barrel and re crowned it. It gives me a 1 inch group at 100 yds. No stain just sanded, used buffing weel and coated it with clear shoe polish ( the Kiwi paste kind ) gives a nice luster but not a real shinny finish, also makes it easy to fix a scratch.
