I just got a new Springfield Armory 1911-A1. I can hardly wait to shoot it. It is a stainless with all the extras!
Please forgive me but I had to tell someone.

Congrats on the new buy. That's one of the pistols I have been looking at for about 2 months now. I'm eager to hear how you like it. If I may ask,, what made you decide on that one. Edsel

I have some friends who own Springfield 1911-A1's and they love them. Most people I have talked to prefer them over the Kimber.
That is the main reason for me making the choice.

I just bought a SA too.Mine is SS with ambi saftey and the factory adjustables. The pistol ran me $699.95 before tax,If you dont mind me asking what did yours run?Ive had mine a month now and have not gotten around to shoot it! :(

I just got a Mil-Spec .38 Super. While it had more faults than a new gun ought to, they were all easy fixes, and the gun is a ball to shoot. It also seems to shoot much cleaner than my .45's - after 100 rounds of white box hardball, there was almost no firing reside in the ejection port area.

How can you stand it? That poor baby needs to get to the range!

I love my Mil Spec EXCEPT

For the lack of a finger relief cut in the grip at the rear of the triggerguard. Compare with a Colt.

However, it feeds and shoots and just plain looks good. Enjoy.

Regards.

SA Mil Spec .45

Just got my new Springfield Armory .45 also. My first 1911, and I love it. I've only put about 100 rounds through it so far, three different kinds of ammo, and it has worked flawlessly. I think I like it! :)

Now, mine is a Mil Spec, so it's not a good comparison, but it was $430 out the door.

I do wish I had the ambi safety. I'm a southpaw. Springfield Armory wants $100 plus shipping to install it, and maintain the factory warranty. I haven't jumped at that. I'll use it for awhile first and see if it is a "have to have."

Does it have the new frame shape or the older and blockier one. I didn't like the feel of the older SA compared to a Kimber, but it shot well.
