New Single Six Hunter on the block

New Single Six Hunter came home today, after the infamous California 30 days between handgun purchases nonsense. Tomorrow we are off to the range! It should be interesting to see how she shoots what with that long sight radius and plain old long barrel. I am guessing that she really shoots with .22WMR given the barrel length and the fact that .22WMR benefits from the longer barrel. We shall see. I was not sure how I was going to cotton to the black grips, but they are starting to grow on me.

Sweet looking hunter you have there !! Good short to mid range critter getter. You going to add an optic to it down the road? A 1" circle dot or 3inch dot reflex / red dot would make for a heck of an addition along with a cross chest holster .

Nice Ruger.

Took the Single Six Hunter to the range on Friday afternoon. The gun really handles well and this one seems to be a pretty good copy. The action has that wonderful single-action precision feeling that we all look for. My groups at 30 feet (my zeroing/testing/combat distance) were better than with my shorter-barreled single action. I did have trouble seeing the front sight when shooting at the indoor range. Like most indoor ranges, the lighting is not as bright as I might like. Nonetheless the long sight radius clearly made a difference.

When I got home from zeroing the iron sights, I scoped the revolver as has been my intention all along. Here she is scoped with a little Nikon Force XR 2x20. Nothing great, but this seems like a decent little scope. Going to the range today and will provide a range report with the scope!
