New Shotgun on the Way

I have just found the shotgun that I will have by the end of the year. It's picture is at www.tacticalshotgunaccessories.com/minotaurtactical/default.htm I have a Mossberg 500 howver I do not have the Minotaur Rail and upcoming Door Breacher. I plan to use Midwest Industries sights, an EoTech and the green laser they offer, as well as the ATI strikeforce stock. Looking foward to the rail, I friend put one on his Remington -- way to cool!

My only question... "Do you have the required space in your *no longer needed farkle* do-dad box for that rail?"

My un used parts drawer isn't big enuff for it...

What I see is a gun with do-ma-hickeys right in the sight plane...

There is a reason why mall ninjas like their lights and other TOYS hung from the mag tube... when they really need the gun, they can use it as designed when the toys are not working.

Your gun, your money but none of that non-sense on anything I own...

Spyder,
You're probably not getting the responses you were looking for here. :)
I'll put it a little more mildly: Yuck!

If you like spending your money on "cool", then what you're buying is OK.
If you want a real working shotgun, though, you're not getting it.

Adding weight is rarely a good idea, the breecher is useless, you'd be far ahead in either buying a Mossberg with good sights aleady installed or having them installed on your 500. Lights/lasers are better off below the barrel, IF you feel you need them. An Eotech is not much of a benefit on a shotgun (adds weight, not needed at most shotgun distances inside 50 yards).

You'll end up with a very heavy & needlessly expensive shotgun that may impress your friends, but won't do you any better (worse, actually) than a more sensibly set up gun would at a much more sensible price, if you ever need to use it for serious purposes.

Kinda looks like one of those guns in a silly video game, do you know how much that weighs with all the modifications? Just curiosity....:D

I carried a breaching shotgun for a while as a requirement for work, a mossberg 500 with a pistol grip (as it was only for breaching). Since it was strapped to my back along with all of my other gear, I wanted it as small and as light as possible. I never really needed a laser or a holo sight to hit a hinge or a lockplate from less than an inch either.

But, if you like it like that, have fun.

Welcome aboard, Spyder.

Contrary to Net myth, a stock, un-modified shotgun of known make is a fine close range weapon. The add ons may or may not improve performance.

A rule of thumb here......

Only add something to your shotguns when it's needed to do something it will not do now that is vital to your continued well being.

I've two accessorized HD 870s here that work quite well, but the plain and simple parts 870 I use for Geese, etc, is also good and somewhat quicker. It currently wears a 21" barrel and is full of buck,JIC.
