i'm looking for a new shorty revolver for self defence and fun. I have about 20 pistols but no shorty revolvers. I want someting for everyday carry that will be reilable and accurate. Please help

For carry purposes

I would go for a hammerless like a S&W centennial, or maybe one of the bodyguards with the recessed snag free hammer. The hammerless is not so much fun to shoot but is nice for conceilment as it is no snag and no hole to let crud into around the hammer. Draw point and pull the trigger. The bodyguard can be fired single action for plinking or testing ammo and it seems that they are more desireable to alot of folks. Maybe they look meaner with that hunchback. Or a Colt Detective with the attached shroud. I have a Chiefs model 60 but it stays at home as it is not used for conceiled quick draw. More of a burglar gun. You might check out the new 2 inch Smith chambered for 45 auto. Looks kinda pugnacious but also cool. I for one don't really desire a magnum snubbie, though. Have tried +p+ in a 2 inch model 15 once, and that was plenty for me. Still have that box of police ammo minus 6 rounds after 8 years. Not fun.

My most recent revolver purchase; a S&W 325 PD. Shorty 45 ACP revolver...

Centenial design (hammerless) is best for pocket carry. Lightweight is also best. I carry S&W 442 nickeled mostly.... but also some small autos.

I carry a Taurus Total Titanium 617 .357 Magnum. It conceals well, but has a full size grip that won't kill you at the range. Also it is a 7 shot revolver. Only down side is that it it LOUD as hell, due to porting. It might be worth taking a look at.

I just got an SP101 (Ruger) about a month ago and it's a fantastic piece. It's very accurate (as long as I'm accurate,) and very well built. It may be a bit heavier than some other compact revolvers, but that's a trade I'm willing to make for the strength and shooting comfort.
