So i have to brand new nikon scopes 2.5 x 42 monarch 3 and 3x9x40 prostaff.I have mounted them both on two seperate rifles. They are square up rite, leveled correctly, bases are all tight as well as rings. As i boresighted them both adjustments are reversed,Up is down and down is up.Right is left left is right..I sent them back explaining what was wrong they sent back brand new ones with the same problem. What do you guys think the problem is?

No offense, but it sounds like operator error. If you are boresighting and moving the adjustments down, the crosshairs will appear to move up. This will move the point of impact down when you shoot

So jmr. what i am saying is when i adjust down the cross hairs move up.and when i adjust right the cross hairs move to the left.I have yet to fire a shot with these weapons.Im just wondering if anybody has had the same issues at any time.I've had scoped rifles for 20 years and never seen an issue such as this one. Thanks for your input tho.

It is not a problem. Different scope mfgs are setup differently. Some move the crosshairs right when you adjust right, which actually shifts point of impact left. Others move the crosshairs left when you adjust right to move your POI left.

Just different schools of thought in design. Nothing is wrong, just understand how your scopes function and go shooting.

Ok thanks that was the info i was looking for,Thanks for your input guys.I am new to the forum.it is good to find a place where folks are always willing to help one another.

That is exactly how the scope should work. When the scope is mounted on the rifle, to move point of impact upward, the horizontal bar of the reticle moves down. That causes the rifle to be pointed higher to raise point of impact. I'm really surprised Nikon didn't return the scopes with a no test failure statement.
