New scope for new sako a7

Girl got me a sako a7 30-06 B&C stock fluted barrel, 6.5 lbs, which will be my go to rifle here for PA whitetails + any chance I get to hit backcountry out west or up north. After much research i Just ordered a vortex viper hs 2.5-10x44 30mm tube with precision match rings and now second guessing myself, at 16.5 oz is it too much scope for what I'll call my all round mountain rifle? Maybe I should just go with the viper 3-9 x40 1in tube and call it good? Or get both and test them out at the range, any experiences?

Screaming deals on Steiner 4X16 Predator Extreme scopes google and find you best deal. I bought one for $599.00 and $75.00 rebate. Glass as good as Swarovski,Zeiss or any other you care to mention.Excellent reticle S-1, not going find a better scope at no price.

No I don't think so. 2.5 power for close in shooting always comes in handy. Plus the 30-mm tube is an up grade is it not? (New rifle deserves the best!!) Don't have any experience with Vortex. But those who do have them I've read have been pleased with theirs.
BTW: Good job in writing your first posting.
