New scope for .223

Looking to pick up a new scope for my .223. I shoot primarily at 100 and 200 yrds so I am looking at a scope with BDC to be able to easily compensate for the different distances without needing to adjust. The scopes I am looking at are:

Vortex Crossfire II - 6-18-44
Nikon Prostaff 4-12-40
Nikon Buckmaster 4-12-40

Any input greatly appreciated. The Crossfire and Prostaff are the same price, Buck is about 70 bucks cheaper.

I have a Vortex Crossfire II 4-12 (with Adjustable Objective) and it works really well for me. Honestly, 4-12 is a lot of optic for a 223 under 300 yards. 6-18 sounds a bit excessive to me. But I do like that product!
 
Thanks for the response. So I looked at the Vortex in the 4-12 and there are 2 options in BDC.

4-12-40 (adjustable Objective)
4-12-44 (No AO)

So better to go with the bigger tube and no AO or smaller with AO? Also, how is the clarity on your Vortex? I talked to a few friends and they say the Nikon picture is crystal clear in comparison to the Vortex not being as clear.
 
I had a Vortex Crossfire II - 6-18-44 and returned it because it was not sharp and clear at all. I had other guys look through it and they said the same thing. Maybe I just got a bad one ?
 
My Vortex (the 40 with the AO) is clear to me, I have liked it. I haven't compared to everything, but no complaints. I do use the AO quite a bit, and is typically a feature on many higher end scopes.
 
Target shooting only. No hunting. We have shoots where we shoot at post it notes with the repair circles for the splatter targets place in the center. Or playing cards, things of that nature.
 
This may sound excessive but I just put a fixed power T25 weaver on my target 223..You could pick out and hit a fly at 100 yds, very fine cross hairs. I love it.
 
I have a Nikon with BDC, don't care for the BDC one bit. For a 223 to max 200yds I wouldn't get above a 3-9x. You don't need anymore than that. In fact if your not going farther than that, a good 2-7x would likely work for you. I've had two 223's. One had a straight 4x on it and the other a 3-9x. Never felt at a disadvantage with the 4x.
