New safe, need IDEAS

Well I finally broke down and purchased a gun safe. Nothing too fancy but will definately meet my needs. It is about 5 ft tall x 2 ft wide. Im not sure on the depth... Anyhow, it stores my long guns just fine but I would like to find a better way to store my handguns.

It has two shelves but thats were I keep ammo, mags, holsters, etc. I have seen safes before that had holsters on the inside of the door, which I thought was pretty neat. I have also seen homemade handgun "racks" that save space and provide a nice little display for your pistols.

I basically just need some space saving tips... I'm not asking for pics of your safe's contents but descriptions or pics of your setup would be great.
Thanks:)

I got a nice handgun rack from Rick (zebraranger on here) at www.manaboutracks.com. I got the smaller one but he makes all different sizes. Here's a pic if it on the second shelf holding 4 handguns in my small safe, plus it has a space for mags and other things under the handguns.

Wow!! I was gonna say just google "handgun rack" but after looking at manaboutrack.com I would definatly say look there first, those look great! Plus it is much better to support the one man shops...

I think hoytinak has the right idea hanging the holster rather than the gun.

Nick.

That's a great setup Hoytinak! That definately gives me some new ideas on how to arrange things. The handgun rack is perfect... just what I was looking for. Thanks!

Hey Trevor, nice collection & nice set up with the safe. I too like your idea with the holster hangers on the door. I've been wondering what to do with my holsters for a long time, your door idea will definitely free up some space.

I used to be a fan of the safe-door mounted pistol racks, the first i employed had a basic peg board set-up with felt covered pegs that the pistols sat upside down in. Another had Uncle Mike like nylon holsters and velcro to hold a bunch of pistols upright in holsters. I thought this was the hot ticket.

Then, one morning, I opened the safe to pull out a shotgun from the rear corner and my rump brushed against the door sending an S&W M27 and a Colt Gold Cup on a gravity ride down to the concrete floor of my utility room. A couple of scratches later and out these door mounted affairs went.

Now I use foam pistol racks on the shelves of my safe like the ones sold at Cabela's, see the link below. These work great and keep my 25 plus handguns very well arranged.
