New S&W vs old S&W

I'm told the new S&W revolvers with the molded injected metal components are just not as suitable for custom work as the older models with the forged internals...on the basis the MIM pieces just do not tune up as slick as the older models. Is this a significant difference? Has anyone else noticed it?

The only difference I've noticed is the MIM parts start out more square and smooth, and don't need to be "tuned".

They are every bit as "customizable" as the forged parts, they just don't have the "pock marks" some of the forged parts have.

Good Luck...

Just a note on those "forged" parts. The old S&W hammers and triggers were not really forged, as we normally think of it. They were hot blanked (punched) out of steel plate. Dies for special shapes (target type) were made to allow extra metal for forging the wider hammer spur and trigger.
