I've been admiring the new Mark IV's for a couple of months and picked up a blued Target model two days ago for $392.00 plus tax and with no other fees. This will be added to my numerous collection other Ruger pistols, revolvers and rifles that started with my Bearcat in 1971.
First off, this is a beautifully crafted pistol with perfect fit and finish. No polymer here, just traditional steel and milled aluminum that gives it some heft and a nice feel. I gave it a good cleaning and lube last night and the ease of takedown is just like you've heard or read about. It takes just a couple seconds to takedown or reassemble it. What great engineering from Ruger, especially when compared to my old Ruger Mark I.
I took 350 rounds of assorted.22lr from new CCI Mini Mags, Stingers, Remington Gold bulk, and Federals to several boxes of 40-year old Federals and Canucks. Through all 350 rounds I had zero failures to feed or failures to eject. I had two failure to fire on the 40-year old Federals but they both had solid firing pin strikes, they were just old duds whose time had past. The trigger is very nice and smooth with no grit or slack and although I didn't measure the pull it felt about 4 pounds max. Accuracy was excellent from my point of view, especially with the fresh CCI Mini Mags. When shooting with my hands supported on the bench it was holding 1-1/2" - 2" groups at 25 yards. I'm sure that with a proper rest it would be even better. All in all I am more than pleased with this new Mark!
One other interesting note, the serial number prefex on these is WBR, a nice bit of homage and respect for the creator of the Mark pistols and Ruger firearms.
