Ruger has just announced a new LCR revolver chambered in 327 Federal Magnum. Many of us have been asking for just this combination. Im in for two. Thank you Ruger.

worth a look for my daughter. can be loaded with regular .32 mags, its a six shooter, and its a center fire.

About time. I am sure I have sent 2-3 notes to them about it along with many others. This could go a long way to bringing the 327 into mainstream IMO.

I have no Earthly use for one and won't buy one, but I am thrilled that they are doing it. I would love it if .327 Federal got more popular and it is also reassuring to see that Ruger still sees some life in this much less popular round.

For those who keep count of such things, it may br worth noting that this makes THREE new to market Ruger .327 Federal revolvers to be introduced since their original three Ruger .327 Federal revolvers were suspended from production.

Also gives me hope that eventually they'll introduce a new .327 Federal revolver that I truly -DO- want to buy.

I, for the life of me, can't figure out why Ruger didn't do this years ago. When the .327 Federal came out, it was marketed as an alternative revolver cartridge which gave better ballistics than the .38 Special +P but less punishing recoil than .357 Magnum. I would think that such benefits would be most appreciated in a small, light revolver like the LCR. I expected the LCR to be the second revolver that Ruger made in .327 after the SP101, but instead I was left scratching my head when they chambered it in the GP100 and Blackhawk.

I plan to buy one but primarily for .32 H&R Magnum. As I said in the club thread:

"I always kicked myself for missing out on the S&W 432 PD and every used model I saw was just a little too dinged up. I think the LCR is a better product all around. It definitely replaced my 442 in .38 special. I mean, six shots of reasonable strength with a little less recoil counts as a win in my book.

Yeah, the .327 is more than I want in a light pocket gun but so is .357! They both have more recoil than I want. They both have more blast and noise than I want. They are both inefficient in the amount of extra energy that they waste. They both have gains that aren't worth it to me in this package. I have longer-barreled steel guns for .327 and .357. So this will just be a modern .32 H&R Magnum with a crud collection ring in the chambers. :D

I currently have a 432 PD J Frame in 32 H&R Magnum I bought new ( was my 1st carry gun ) so I doubt I'll buy a LCR in 327, but I expect they'll sell... 6 rounds is a good thing :)

Well, I agree with your first point but understand why they did the Blackhawk and GP. The GP would make a good nightstand gun for someone like my wife who doesn't like shooting .357s and the Blackhawk makes an excellent hunting handgun for coyotes.

The 3" Sp101 is my favorite thought...perfect carry gun for me.

Yes, on the SP101 4" and now the LCR DA. The third that I can think of is not a commitment by Ruger but was only a distributor exclusive for Lipseys (Single Seven), now done and gone from Ruger's perspective. They don't even service them. Did I miss one?

I think this was a good move by Ruger. However, the same old question arises.... why not just use a 38spl LCR?

My answer would be to get a sixth round. I suspect others just buy one because it is one they don't have yet. If they did it in an LCRx, I might be interested in trying one.

The LCR cylinder window fits 357 Magnum, so 327 Fed mag at the same length makes some sense as a variant. However, like the 357 Magnum often being loaded as 38 Special, the 327 Fed Mag could be and will probably often be loaded as 32 H&R.

I agree. I think the LCR in 327 Federal makes sense. Ammo seems to be an issue, but most people don't shoot their little carry guns all that much. When the cartridge just came out, I was in a gun shop and someone asked my opinion for a "lady". My thought was the 327/32 H&R made a lot of sense.

Absolutely the sixth round. That was the original intent for the 327. a small revolver, with effectiveness of a 357, with 6 shots, instead of 5.

The 327, and 32 H&R Mag give another advantage over the 38. Felt recoil, and control. My wife has strength issues in her hands do to age and other medical factors. She likes a revolver for protection. She cant control a lightweight 38(too much recoil) and cant handle a heavy 38(too heavy). I have a Taurus 2" 327. She wasn't thrilled with 327 Magnums, but found the 32 H&R Magnum to be just right. I've finally convinced her that you don't need a hammer spur on a defensive revolver. She really likes the LCR-22, and would use that for defense, but I wont allow that. The LCR-327 is perfect.

Small snub that holds 6 rds, count me in. I would rather the extra round than a slightly heavier and larger round. For it's intended purpose, .327 will perform just as well as an .38 special.

327's true calling, small 6 shot revolvers. How versatile, 32S&W for plinking and training, 32H&R for a mid range and 327 for serious work! All thats missing is for CCI to offer a snake shot option in 32cal. I hope Ruger sticks with the 327 offerings.

Its not the same old question for guys that know the 327 magnum.
We quit asking along time ago.

6 rounds instead of 5. about 1400 fps of bad guy whooper instead of 7-800 fps.
Flatter shooting once out side the belly shot range. If this thing shoots any were near as well as my wife's Taurus at 25 feet. WOOT!!
Plus I get to shoot a bucket full of 32L's for practice.

Also the 327 will be a better investment. They will still be churning out 38's by the truck full. If this one is any thing the others. Another year or three and we will get to ask a premium.
I paid $225 for my wife's Taurus M327 I could get $350 easy right now.

With a 1.875" barrel, not from this gun...

From ballistics by the inch:

Federal 85 gr. Hydra-Shok / American Eagle 100 gr. JSP / Speer 115 gr. Gold Dot.

3" 1331 / 1398 / 1316
2" 976 / 1056 / 1042

The velocity loss dropping down to a 2" barrel is huge. The ballistics are about the same as a 380 acp from a 3" barrel.
