New Rifle

Didn't really need it, but picked up a new Browning A-Bolt .25-06 last week. Mounted a Bushnell Elite 4200 on it with Leupold QRW ring and bases. I think I am going to like it a lot. Going to use it for Deer hunting in a little while. Going to try out RL-22 with the Hornady 100 gr SP, and see how that works. Also have some 117 BTSP, and Sierra 117 SpitzerBT.

congrats on the new A bolt,IMO a 25-06 is a good choice for deer let us know how it shoots. I'm in the market for a 25-06 myself I've had mine a while a Ruger m77 & want another, cant decide witch rifle.:D

It is indeed a Montana sling, have 4 of them... I love them. Gonna try to get out to the range when it cools of a little. Too hot right now.

The 117 gr Sierra Game Kings in .257 work well in the 25-06 for deer. This was the most accurate bullet for the 25-06 rifle that I load ammo. Let us know which bullet is most accurate in your 25-06.

I've long wanted a .25-06 and also am intrigued by the Browning rifles. I've held them and they feel great, but I've heard too many mixed reviews on accuracy.. so I'm not sure. I would use it for 300-400 yard shots on the flat plains I live by, so it needs to be decently accurate.

Waiting for a range report!

I"m also a fan of the 117 Game King for the .25-06. I use Reloder 22 powder and didn't do much load development. The second load on my loadmap went into 0.847 from an early Ruger 77 with a sporter barrel. The chrony showed the velocities at just north of 2800 fps.

We haven't taken anything with that rifle yet. I gave it to my son and between jobs and starting a family he hasn't been able to hunt for the past several years, but on range outings it never fails to satisfy. Good velocity, great accuracy from a rifle that didn't need tinkering. What's not to love?

I've had an A-Bolt Stainless Stalker for years in .25/06. A few years back, I took it elk hunting in CO, made a 420yd neck shot on a cow elk, she never took another step.

I've used mainly Hornady Custom Ammo, 117gr SST and it will put three shots into a quarter at 250 (zero range).

It is one of the more accurate guns I own, I also have an A-Bolt in 7mm-08 which is equally as accurate, in addition to three Browning BAR MkII Safari's (.25/06, .30/06, and .338, respectively). All of them are at least 2MOA capable on a fair day, 1-1.5MOA on a good day, perfectly suitable accuray for a hunting rifle.

Gman nice rifle great caliber you'll like it, I am in the process of getting a 700 Rem XCR II in the 25. I should have it all set up by the in of Aug.
Once again congrads

It's very light and has a nice feel and balance in the hands. I am very impressed with the scope as well... $369.00 new in the box, and the image clarity throughout the range of adjustment is very bright, crisp, and clear from edge to edge. I would say that the glass is better than the Leupolds that I have, and almost as good as my Nightforce. Altogether at around $1000, I think I did pretty good.:)

Very nice rifle setup!:D:D Browning is very high quality, the 25-06 is a very accurate round, and the Bushnell Elite scope are very nice and well made. One outstanding combination!
