Hey everyone, first post here, probably going to be a long one, sorry! Hope I fit in all right around here with all you guys!
I posted this on another forum seeking help so I'll just paste it on here:
I want a new rifle and with my limit around 400$ max, I've been looking hard at a Century (I know, I know) CETME and a Swiss K31. I have the chance to pick up the K31 all matching in I'd say good-very good condition (stock looks a little beat, didn't check the bore) for around 300$ and in the same shop, a CETME for 400$ with a cheap bushnell 3-9x scope and a laser sight. I understand the K31 will be more accurate and present less problems out the door, but I just have a thing for semi-auto's and even for the HK platform rifles, bad ergonomics and all. I figure the CETME may have some problems though with cheap parts and mags that are abundant, if the problems aren't that severe with the CETMEs I'm really leaning towards that. The main purpose of the rifle is for target shooting as I already have a dedicated hunting rifle. Would the CETME give reasonable MBR accuracy (2-3 moa?) I don't really need a tack-drive like the K31 because I also have a savage 11 in .308 (soon to convert to 7mm-08). However, I do need to fill the semi-auto MBR gap in my collection. Can the CETME owners give some feedback on this? And are man size hits at ~400-500 yards possible with a CETME with decent ammo? And finally, with a port buffer can you reload for the CETME? Or can you not even shoot the softer commercial ammo due to the flutes insight on this is GREATLY appreciated (Sorry for the realllllly long first post, I've been doing a lot of research on both rifles and want some extra opinions)
Thank you all for your time, be safe.
