Just picked a 98k German WWII military rifle at auction in 8 m/m and want to convert same to .270 Win. Anyone have a source for this conversion?

Pre-threaded barrels are available for the Mauser and just about any competent gunsmith should be able to install the barrel and do the magazine work.

(I have to note that good Mausers, especially K.98k's, are becoming pretty valuable, so if the rifle is in good condition and not already sporterized, it might make more sense to sell it and buy a new commercial sporter that is already set up for scope, etc. For some Mausers in top condition, you could get enough to buy two Remington 700's and have change left over.)

+1 on what Jim says. A 98k Bring-back, with no import marks, is EASILY worth $500 in decent condition. Depending on rarity, it could go three times that. The Russian capture guns with their mismatched, electropenciled bolts, cheezy red lacquer, and Russian arsenal reblue job fetch $250 - 350 at dealer cost.

if you want a Mauser to sporterize, buy a Turk or a 24/47 or M48 Yugo with zero collector interest.

You will come out ahead on money to start with a commercial action -- trust me. I love to convert the old girls, starting with actions that have already been bubba'd, but I don't do it to save money.
