New revolver problem???

I Purchased my Smith & Wesson model 10 last week. Overall, I'm very happy with my decision. But, only about 80% of the time the cylinder snaps shut. Other times I have to reopen the cylinder then close it again. I talked to the gunsmith where I bought the gun and he says that its "stiff" and it will just have to be worked in before it closes just right.

Question-Has anyone else had this problem, did it ever fix, or what did you do to fix it???

Thank you

I'll add fuel to the fire, It's hard to believe someone has a revolver problem, and it's not a taurus.

Return it to the seller first and demand a refund/replacement. If you cannot obtain satisfaction, out the seller as a rip-off and contact S&W for a Return Authorization, S&W will fix it. I am not stunned that a Model 10 the bread and butter S&W revolver will not function. I have had two recently that were non-functional due to poor QC/excessive tolerances.

Remove the yoke assembly, clean the barrel of the yoke and relube, clean the bore of the frame that they yoke fits in and relube, reassemble and check for function. It may be just dirty.

If you push hard on the cylinder when it doesnot close does it then click shut?

It sounds like a sprung yoke, when you close it is there a large gap between the yoke and the frame???
