Can't remember when I've been more pleased with an out-of-the box rifle!!! Just guessed on some loads for AA2200 powder for shooting Sierra 75gr. fbhp, for barrel break-in.

Got out the Dremel and sanding drum and free-floated the barrel; adjusted the trigger to 2#. Shooting lots of one-hole groups. Yesterday, had four shots @ .233", then shot a "flyer" that opened the group up to a whopping .444". Still not too shabby, considering that I was shooting F.L. sized brass, not weighing the charges, etc.

Have Timney trigger on order; maybe I'll spring for a Jewel later . Will try my VS stock as soon as I get the VS back from the friend who's borrowed it.

Finish and workmanship are beautiful. Love the .243!! Shoots 55gr. @ 4000fps+, all the way up to 100gr. +. Highly recommend this rifle.

Walter, I have two VLSs and am also very pleased. But I have no desire to change the stocks and the triggers adjusted beautifully.
Am I missing something?
And yes the 243s are very impressive (have Tikka and Rem. custom) yet I'm more fond of the 6mm.
Great shooting BTW!

Happy to hear you like your VLS. I have a new one as well that I've adjusted the trigger on and shimmed up to get clearance on the barrel. It's a 1/2" moa shooter.I guess I better get busy and sand out those forend pressure points. After you did that did you have full clearance on the barrel?

Clint: I have really good clearance all the way to the recoil lug. I used the larger Dremel sanding drum and opened up entire length of the barrel channel. I increased the depth and width. Got a little walnut stain and slopped in around, followed with some Formby's tung oil finish.

I'm probably not going to keep the .243 in the laminated stock, as I have a VS in .223. Since I only shoot one at a time, I'll probably just use the VS stock with whichever I'm shooting.
