New range bag as airline carry on

Have any of you used a new range bag as an airline carry on?

I have not but the carry on bag I have is pretty well gone. Good quality range bags are built like tanks and as long as they are not exposed to ammunition or explosive residue, they would seem to be ideal for the purpose.

I would never attempt to use one that had served as an actual range bag but what would be the issue with a new one?

No issue at all.

Most TSA Screeners won't even know it's a range bag, and even if they did, it wouldn't really draw any extra attention.

I think I posted a while ago about this, but it's worth repeating (and yes, I know you mentioned it):

Do not use your regular range/hunting bag as a carry on. I've found enough loose ammo, knives, gun parts, magazines (also considered gun parts), full boxes of ammo, in bags that had supposedly been double checked by their owners to know that no matter how thorough you are, you're bound to leave something in there at some point.

I'm not allowed to tell you what I found in a supposedly pre-checked out bag, owned by a guy who worked for a blasting company...
