New Product: Mauser M2

Greeting's, In receipt of the March issue of
The American Rifleman magazine. On the cover,
they have pictured a Mauser M2 and a Steyr-M
Series. I know that Sig adopted Mauser, and
that this is a joint project. My question is;
Has anyone been able to see one of the M2's
in person; and if so, does it have the same
frame as the Sig-Pro series? All replies are
welcome. :)

Best Wishes,

haven't seen one in person yet but, if it has the mauser logo on it i have to add it to my collection.
there is something about MAUSER! i know it is just a logo and not actually an authentic mauser but hey i own a dsa fal too.

Dan,
It has an aluminum alloy frame like the P series Sigs (I know you'll be happy to hear that). The frame rails run on the inside like the CZ75 and the safety is on the BACK of the pistol (left to shoot, right to safe). It has a rotary barrel lockup like the Beretta Cougar and it weighs about 32 oz, I believe. It comes in 9, 40 and 45.

Greeting Mylhouse and many thanks for the
information; I just might have to take a
strong look at them, when my local dealer
get's one in. On the second thought, I'm
broke, busted, and can't be trusted.

Regards,

PS: The aluminum frame sounds great!!!

Weird (and sort of fragile looking) manual safety switch on the back of the M2...I beleive they said it was an option to have the manual safety as part of the gun, but they didn't say if that meant there were two versions of the gun (one with manual safety, one without), or if the manual safety lever could be removed by the owner.

Does anyone know where a picture can be found of the new Mauser M2 on the net? I keep hearing about it but still haven't seen a single picture of it. And my American Rifleman issue with the cover picture seems to be missing in action.

Thanks everyone!

So if Lorcin bought the Mauser name and stuck it on it of their pistols, would you buy one of them, too? Ridiculous, IMO. Substance, not form. I'll wait till it's tested.

American Guardian just had a brief review. They would only describe accuracy as "adequate", and the posted velocity figures were disappointing. I hope that it's not a portent of things to come.

The new issue of "Guns", I think its called, edited by Jan Liberal, has a short write up and a couple of pics of it. I'll have to reserve judgement until it comes out, but I have negetive thoughts about the manual "safety". I think it will do more for making it safe for the company against liability claims, than it will for the users well being. Its located just above the backstrap. If I wanted one of those in the first place, I'd get a Berretta or Smith.

Correction to my previous post. The mag in question was GUN WORLD, not "Guns". I hope that I didn't lead anyone to waste their time wading through Guns at the newstand.

Is there any such critter as a "reasonable gun law"?
