After reading various threads I picked up this 550. Can't wait to get it set up.

Great choice. When you go progressive, you go Dillon. And that, from a die-hard RCBS guy.

I bought the BL 550 - the most basic one; and it is a great machine. Does exactly what I need. I don't do brass recondition and the actual reloading in one step (If I did, I would have gotten the 5-stage 650), so I never need more than three stages. And I prime and powder charge by hand, off the press - so I don't need all that priming and powder dropping apparati. But that's all another subject.

You're really going to like your Dillon press. They are well made. Don't forget to go to your nearest auto care store and pick up a quart of 30-W Non-Detergent motor oil to lube the ram ;)

You're going to enjoy your Dillon, no question about it.

Do get yourself a good scale and a micrometer, you'll need them both, and of course any manuals you can find.

You'll probably want the Strong Mount, it spreads the load across a larger table surface and lends a more solid platform.

You got good tastes in press's I see. "You picked out a dandy"
Congratulations. ~~Um~That said.
"Time to get it set up ASAP and make some cartridges.":D

Just got one also several days ago. Have it all set up and tuned..Loaded my first 100 rounds the day before yesterday and another 100 yesterday. Great press..:D. Congrats

Yeah I'm set. Been reloading for 8-9 years on a single stage. This is just an upgrade for me. Got a feeling I'm gonna to need to start buying larger quantities of brass lol.

I made my own strong mount...looks like the "real" one, welded, crinkle painted flat Black. Also, just a note, I like the ball handle just as it is...I use my 550b while standing, slightly from the right of the press. Therefore, although I have never tried the asseory roller handle, it seems that one would have to be more in front of the machine to use it, whereas I like to stand slightly to the right of front (so I can observe what is happening), and roll the handle counter-clockwise as I pull it down. So, I don't think a roller handle upgrade would fit well in the way I use my press.
