Boy did I get a deal today,
The distinguished Greg Bell and myself went in pursuit of my new play toy today and initiated our little journey with a stopover at one of our favored gunshops. We were received with the usual selection of hi dollar artillery we are so devotedly attached to, P7M8, P7M10, P7M13, P9S 9mm and .45, Walther P99, assorted USP’s and SIG’s galore even looked at a Beretta and a Glock or two.
After the ceremonial fondling of the P7M13 and laughing derisively at an M10 that has been at this shop for going on 8 to 10 years (no lie!) they want $1300.00 and it’s even showing signs of corrosion! We decided to move on to our next haunt.
Upon arrival I descry a used SIG P220 two-tone with night sites in prime condition next to a blued SIG P220. The blued was marked at $619.99 and had no night sites, the two-tone was marked at $599.99. I mulled over it, handled it, thought and handled it some more. I anticipated that it was missed marked, maybe?
Well the salesman patiently observed us and I finally decided to make my offer. It had a small scuffmark, (possibly from being dropped) on the top of the slide just aft of the rear site.
“Do you have any spare mags”? I asked,
“I don’t even think it has the box to be honest”. He replies. Well then, I decided to offer $550.00.
He walks back to his computer, pecks away, then returns and says, “I’ll met you half way, $575.00”.
“Ok, you got yourself a deal, wrap it up”.
He then stops and says he will go and make sure that it has no box and off he goes. Moments later he returns with the SIG box, plops it down on the counter and opens it up, SIX Mags stare us in the face!
4 factory SIG mags and 2 Megar mags!
I quickly say, “$575.00 you got yourself a deal”!
He hesitates for about a half a second then says, “Ok”.
$575.00 SIG P220 .45ACP Two-tone with factory night sites in 95%-98% condition.
4 Factory SIG Mags
2 Megar after market mags
Plus box with all documentation.
What ya think?
Once we arrived back home and broke the gun down for its ceremonious welcome home cleaning we discover it has been shot few times (no significant telltale barrel wear common with SIG’s). In short this gun has been fired less than 300 times, possibly less than 200 times, has almost no carry wear other than the tiny blemish I described.
I am quite happy with my new purchase; this makes the third P220 .45 I have owned, my 8th SIG over all and my first two-toned SIG.
Its primary use will be a house gun, loaded with 165gr. Cor-Bons kept snuggly in a Galco paddle back hi-ride holster for quick carry if needed. But it will see some carry as the weather grows colder and necessitates a jacket.
