I was at my favorite gun shop today, just to see what was new. The owner, a former Missouri State Highway Patrol officer, and I have been friends for quite some time. He told me about a fella that was in last week and sold him 4 "NIB" pistols that he had put away for a long time. He had 3 Colt Python's and a S&W 39-2. The Colts were in the 2 1/2, 4 and 6 inch barrel lengths. Beautiful pistols, but out of my price range. The S&W, on the other hand, was right in my budget. It is a 1972 model and was still wrapped in the "oil paper" with the cleaning brush and rod still sealed in the plastic bag.
This is a dandy, light weight 9mm, and just what I was looking for. Very slim for concealed carry. You just don't seem to see the quality of bluing and great Walnut grips with precise checkering on pistols like this anymore.
A question.....Does anyone know if a ambi. safety is available for this model? It looks like one should be able to retro fit one. thanks.
