I just recently bought an 1873 Colt clone. Bought off another forum. I specifically asked if it was an Uberti and was told it was. I couldn't find a manufacturers date stamp. It came in what I believe was the original box with all the original papers. It was a "Mitchell Arms" imported by EMF. The papers say it's really a Armi San Marco. Any opinions on its quality? Its a 45 LC/45 ACP.

well that's really nice to know is there anything that can be done with the hammer spring because it seems a bit stiff to me.

Does it have the separate recoil plate (firing pin bushing)?
I know Uberti doesn't go to the expense of doing it "the Colt way".

Not to worry, mine didn't either. I can understand the need for one on a gun made in the 1870s but, with one made with modern materials I don't think it needs one.
I believe that would be the only thing different. As I remember, the parts are the same dimensionally as the Colt.
I have seen several threads that have the same opinion so I think I remember correctly.

It will be easy to get rid of if you don't want it.

Dunno about the 73's but ASM had a spotty reputation for quality on internal parts with the cap and balls.

Something I found.

Armi San Marco – manufacturer overview

Armi San Marco was a family owned gun maker in Brescia, Italy. They supplied American retailers with replica firearms over the 1960’s thru 1990’s.

Armi San Marco first started making a Colt 1873 replica in the middle 1980’s. In terms of authenticity, Armi San Marco’s clone was noted as a great improvement over Uberti and Jager single actions. Armi San Marco’s revolvers were of Colt dimensions, and its best ones were all steel with premium finishes.

Over the years Armi San Marco acquired a nagging reputation for soft mechanical parts and other defects however. When last in business, ASM was a subsidiary of American Western Arms, but insurmountable operational problems put a cease to manufacturing in 2004.

Well...am I stupid. I went and looked at another pistol looked just like mine. Asked the manufacturer and was shown where it was stamped in small letters ASM. Went back and looked at mine. It was stamped "Uberti". Boy am I stupid.

the box and the pistol match the serial numbers printed on the edge of the box and the serial number on the pistol are the same the extra cylinder has the same proof marks as the frame on the pistol so I am assuming that the cylinder is also for Uberti and it matches the pistol the only thing that's wrong is the paperwork where it said it was inspected by EMF
