I attend many/most of our DFW area gun shows, and have for five years or so. As a result, I am on a first name basis with a number of the "regulars". This Sunday, I talked to "Sam", one of the guys who runs one of the larger ammo suppliers at our local area shows.
(Several months ago, I witnessed a customer coming up and asking if he had any .45--whem "Sam" said yes, how much do you want? The customer said "all of it" and dropped his credit card on the table.)
I asked "Sam" if business had dropped off any lately. He gave me a weary smile and saisd that they had cleaned him out Saturday, and he had to make a trip to the warehouse for Sunday's show. He also said that he had made three trips out to the truck so far that day to re-stock. I don't know how many rounds of any specific caliber he was selling, but he probably has 50 linear feet of table dedicated to ammo and components at every show, and we see between two and four gun shows per month here.
We still see good supplies of ammo at the gun shows, but the price is a variable. Components are available likewise, and although prices went up a good bit last year, seem to have stabilized to a certain extent.
